@Alex - Thanks a lot Alex! RE the flags / sails, it's sort of a strange dilema... (I.E. It's either wind from behind to match the sails blowing the flags forward, or air from forward motion blowing the flags backwards..?)
Michael I have been watching this progress and I love where it is going. This one blows the others out of the water, pun intended. I love the shadow, without it I think it would just be floating.
Love it Mike.
Yeah I see what your saying on the flags. It feels right to me in this one though. feels like they are blowing with the wind, matching the forward curve of the sails. Just seemed different in the other design.
Really digging the simplicity in this one for sure. Best of the bunch I think.
Yea, this is great man! wondering what just one vertical and horizontal line would look like on those 2 masts instead of 2 lines..u know wat i mean. also : does this come with type?
Great one again, it's hard to say which one of V2 and V3 is better.
The shadow fit's in nicely.
About the flags - if the ship is sailing forward faster than the wind is blowing, than flags would fly in opposite direction - which is not physically possible if ship sails on wind only. In most cases wind blows on the side of the ship, so viewing from some angle it may appear that flags are flying back : http://artwallpapers.biz/Sailing-Ships/images/15.jpg
I did some google "research" and I think the flags are correct because the ship would never reach the wind's speed. So the flags would always point forward or sideways depending on the direction from which the wind is coming. On the other hand, with an icon or logo it's more about looks instead of total realism. :)
Another great looking logo. It's a real tough one between V2 and V3 because they're both so well designed, but I think the message is clearer in V2, which also looks more dynamic (sorry to use that over-used word) than V3 due to the implied movement.
I like this one too. Honestly, I really liked the water element you were trying to incorporate on the others. The water looked like water, but had a "map" feel to it as well which implied direction or a plan. Nice to see these evolve. Good work. I'm looking into to much, maybe.

Continued mark exploration for an educational resource...
Not sure about that cast shadow > but felt like it needed a balancing component lacking the map / water base.

I like this one best so far! Cast shadow is a great added element. Your sails are blowing one way and flags the other though.

Looking a lot better. Maybe try to incorporate the map again but from this new perspective. Great work.

Looks good! What if you incorporated some sort of waves at the bottom? Or at least a cannon torrent :)

Reverse the flags? I'm pretty sure the flags will fly in the opposite direction the boat is moving, even if wind is carrying in the sails.

And if wind blows in same direction the ship is sailing, then flags fly front: http://yachtpals.com/files/userimages/tall-ship-sailing.jpg
So I think whichever way you turn them it's fine :)
Nice idea with the maps as sails!
