I've been getting around 2-3 emails per day since the new iPad launch from people asking me to update my smart object based aging app icon template. Well here's the new version 2.0 with a couple of new tricks up it's sleeve. It even got it's own little site.
For people unfamiliar with my original template, this is what it does:
★ Quickly render all sizes by editing a Smart Object
★ Includes vector textures that you can build on
★ Exporting made easy with the bundled actions
★ Shows you a mockup of how the icon will look in the store and on your home screen (client gimmick warning)
Like with my old template, a raised finger of caution for those who feel tempted to automate the entire process. This resource makes it easy to quickly render a concept across all the various sizes, and while i've spend hours on getting it as precise as possible, you probably want to customize the smaller sizes yourself to get that pixel perfection we're always looking for.
And if you make any icons with this, be sure to add them to the flickr group
@Michael Flarup If you cleaned up the edges of the animated header background image you could make it tile-able, which would be a great thing to do for the folks with over 1080p resolution monitors. The tweet button seems to be borking a bit too, but I'm guessing that's on Twitter's side. Also, the Facebook 'Like' button is in Danish whilst the rest of the page is in English… And also in the Who made this? section the s in "shoot" isn't capitalized even though it begins a sentence. The i in How do i use it? also isn't capitalized.
Fantastic site design and resource though.
Edit: I also should add that you could accomplish the animation with CSS3 animation tags rather than Javascript. You might want to do that too. Or, probably even better, use this jQuery plugin; it animates with CSS3 when possible and falls back to jQuery when the browser doesn't support CSS3.
Just throwing out some suggestions, take what you will and leave what you won't.
Just came here to mention the animation thing that @Zackary Corbett nailed. I'll also suggest using a different payment processor than PayPal (Dwolla, Stripe, WePay, etc.), as I know I've completely stopped using their soul-sucking service.
What a coincidence! You've released this within a few hours after I checked for this update in Pixelresort blog. Hope you update your blog post too http://www.pixelresort.com/blog/app-icon-template/ so that people who check it for update will get the news. Thanks a lot :)

Woahh, that header is trippy. Makes me feel like I'm scrolling. Or maybe I just need more sleep, haha. Either way, fantastic site and template.
