Nice, loving how these look! Much better then the original.

It would be difficult to fit in, but I'd like to see what the long one looks like with blue "Digg" text aside the arrow. It feels like something is missing there.

I'm with Louis. Wonder if you can handle 5 digits and the 'Digg' label. Nice revisions. Have you guys tested the comprehension between the old thumb and the new arrows?

i like these. i'm curious what was the decision to have the number fly out to the left on the "skinny" button? facebook goes right, twitter goes right. why left?

@Louis (and 'Ol Man Burka): Thanks! We tried a couple permutations on the form, including your suggestion -- we settled on that particular implementation because it picks up well and we liked the simplicity.

@Dave: Thanks, there'll be an option to toggle left or right. Offering a left side option because of how we present the number in the main button.

  5. Quick rebound. I would keep the "diggs" and center the 53 on the long one. If you can make them fluid that would be best when stories get a lot of diggs.

Nice work Danny. Would be interested to see how they're looking on a light background. I agree with Louis regarding the long version, feels weak. Looking forward to seeing these live!

@Josh, this degrades the visual impact of the count. That's what Digg runs on. Less noise on the count is where I think it's at. My $0.02

@Aubrey Yeah thats a good point and I agree. I thought by adding a simple label might make it look less arbitrary. I'm sure by this time everyone knows what Digg is.

@Josh: Thanks for your rebound. A couple notes: we purposefully got rid of redundant references to 'diggs' in these buttons. Centering and decreasing width on the long version, as you did there, makes that particular case look good by itself, but remember that we have to handle counts from 1 to 5 digits and this button is designed as part of a larger story layout, which is often a piece of a larger story list. Aligning on the left creates a fixed position for digg counts as you scan stories, the longer width is for a gutter between count and story title.

@Danny Yes reducing redundancies does make sense and if the "long" is going to be fixed width then left align seems to be the best bet. Love Digg. Keep up the good work.

@Josh we try! @addisonkowalski, @tysonrosage, @jamielottering and I run a pretty tight design outfit here.
