A full shot of the new profile on Pinterest. I went through about 35 Photoshop iterations, and the latter half were fully coded up so we could live with them over the last few weeks.
I put a few restrictions on the design that I had to work with:
The first was that the profile information had to leave the side column, so that all the content had more space to breathe.
"Repins from" started as a personal hackathon project, so early iterations of profile don't have this. It was hard keeping a sense of ownership on the page while also bubbling up other people.
Also, and perhaps most importantly, all profile navigation had to be contained in one persistent bar that follows you down the page. A lot of people were having trouble finding certain views (Following, followers), and I wanted to rectify that.
