Love the idea of the steam on the right, but I wonder if there's any way to make it look more like a wifi symbol. Maybe add some stroke contrast, so the "connectors" between the wifi-like waves are much thinner? Does that make sense?
Second review tells me left version would work better even if you didn't know the story behind.. you kinda have to know it's a wifi symbol on the right version.

One on the left - the other one looks like an S, which could be confusing.
The one on the left is a familiar symbol which people understand to mean 'internet' or 'mobile'.
