The overall shape and typography and symbols feel very right for flatware. I think this is well done. (I suppose the texture is nice too, but that shouldn't matter one bit.) ;)
This is beautiful, Seth. It feels so perfect for the subject and the execution is so nicely done. It has just the right amount of restraint and detail, I really like it. The crossbars on 'F' and 'H' seem a little thin or high up to me (although it only stood out to me in the bigger version), but I love how they create a wonderful balance between start and end.
@Maria Frey Thanks Maria! She wants to expand beyond flatware at some point, so any direct references to forks and spoons were out of the question. I looked at hundreds of old silverware handles and tried to incorporate some of what I saw into the shape and style of this, without getting too ornate.
@Matt Pamer Yes, and thanks for the reminder about LHF!
@Claire Coullon I think you're right Claire. The crossbars do seem a little thin. Thanks, great feedback!
Personally, I think its a bit too much - have you tried skewing it? A tiny percentage even, so that it fills that space a bit more? Another option could be extending the middle bar of the E a smidge. Regardless, its extremely close to being a done deal.

A logo for my sister-in-law, who takes vintage flatware and stamps messages into them with a hammer and metal type.

Indeed. I like the little detail underneath "time" and I dig the shape of the badge a lot.

I echo Kurtis' statement about the shape of the badge. Did you customize the "F" and "H"? Nice work dude.

This is really fun! I really dig the arrangement.
The only thing I'd consider tweaking would be the top of the "E" on the last word.
I can't wait to see the final!

@Andy Luce I had extended it a little, thought it helped with the balance. Too awkward? Thanks man.
