Spent a couple of hours last night putting together the bare bones of a Perch blog add on. Just need to do the display/archive listing stuff.

Looks awesome, i love how it joins the top bar, nice and easy for clients to find!

I would really love if that add on would be available right now! :)

Hopefully it won't take too long to get completed.

Jamie: Any custom apps you build can go into the top bar - you register them and give a location:

I am so excited about this. Will it let you assign tags to posts, and give people the option to comment on them? Or is that still a little far off?

Tags yes and it already has categories, comments no. Adding comments means adding moderation, spam filtering and so on and really once you go down those lines you probably want dedicated blog software.

Of course if someone wants to build that kind of system into Perch they could do - but I don't think it will be a priority for us to do as the trend for comments and so on is to move the discussion to Twitter and Facebook etc. anyway.

You could always enable comments via Twitter perhaps, ie if the tweet is made by someone that follows the specified twitter username and references the post URL it appears?

Nathan: yeah there are also a bunch of things like the facebook comments and so on that could be enabled. It may be that those things are more in the realm of writing up solutions so people know how to add them if they want them.

I think traditional blog commenting has had its day anyhow so a solution like this would be much more preferable. :)
