Here's my ideas for the chat feature of the app. I REALLY wanted the app to have a custom keyboard (Not sure if the dev will be able to do this - I am hoping) so this app is completely custom.
There's plenty more screens to come, so follow me on twitter.
@Callum will also be posting as we go, he's on twitter too!
As always guys, feedback is welcome, in fact, I demand it of you :)

@Justin Rhoades Thanks mate, I did have trouble deciding whether or not to add in the texture on the keys, but I do agree, they'd look good with out the texture.
Really awesome that you went a bit further and modified the keyboard! Great colors! Just wondering: why did you post it as a photo when you openly confirm it's a crappy photo? Haha. Maybe you could lengthen the text field a bit closer to the button.
Looking good! Two things to think about - reading white text on black/dark backgrounds can hurt/strain the eyes after awhile. Maybe reduce the keyboard size and make the text input larger. Just thinking if you were to right two or more lines might get annoying.
@mitchbernstein I personally prefer to show it in action (mainly to get a grasp of sizing and things like holding down a button) rather than just a screen shot. Oops! The text field is meant to be a bit closer to the button.
@Glenn Thomas I see what you mean, it's definitely a challenge working with a dark UI that requires the light text color. Thanks for the tips, some experimenting to be done.
@Glenn Thomas The app isn't really a message app, it's more about just finding out if there are any issues on the road on your planned trip, and for reporting hold ups etc. It's likely to be used for a few minutes at a time, now and again, so eye strain hopefully won't be an issue!
@Henry Moran You're right, it is the fun stuff! I haven't come across it before either. For now, it's the standard IOS size with the standard icons but I think if the dev wants to roll with it, I'll customise it even further.
You'll be able to do a custom keyboard but I don't think you'll be able to support other languages and dictation if you don't use the standard one. Looks nice, though.

I don't think the keyboard buttons need the diagonal line texture, they're gorgeous enough on their own. Nice work!

@Zane David Loving the custom keyboard, the only app that I've seen do this is http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/scorekeeper-xl/id463243024?mt=8. They're will be a ton of states to create but that's the fun stuff.

That texture behind the chat bubbles is pure awesomeness.

I do love completely bespoke apps. Really sets it apart if they're designed well. Which this looks like it is.

Apple really should offer a dark keyboard option. This is proof it can look really great.

@Curtis Estridge Actually, they do offer a dark keyboard option. You see it every time you have to enter your password to download an app.

@Louie Mantia Hey you're right. Never noticed that I guess. It's not exactly the same. I think I like @Zane David's a little more.

@Curtis Jinkins @Louis Harboe Yeah, it's not exactly a dark UI, just a dark backing. Either way, I'm having some fun with it :)
