An idea for a sister site to Dribbble. Fidddle which targets musicians and those editing music and sounds. Just like Dribbble offers a space for a quick shot of a design, Fidddle would offer a quick listen to a work in progress. Thoughts?
Well the idea is that it would be an official network site alongside of Dribbble, so a unified theme would be expected.
I have no intentions of creating Fidddle on my own. This is just a concept for what the Dribbble team could do next to expand the idea out to another segment.
I hope to have a rebound on this tonight with another look at the site.
Taking inspiration from Dribbble would probably be as close as something like this would ever get to Dribbble itself. The focus of Dribbble is designer-specific. It fills a pretty big need in a designer's workflow. Attaching something from a completely different industry would dilute the purpose of Dribbble as well as the Dribbble brand.
I would encourage you to explore the Dribbble concept as applied to music though. It's a great collaborative improvement model that works well for designers, and with modification could probably be fairly successful in that niche market.
@Mike You make some excellent points. The model isn't easily transferred from design to music, but I think with some tweaks it could be done.
Like I said above, I always intended for my exploration of this idea to end with these shots. It's just an idea that I wanted to put together and put out there to see what people thought.
@Gedy, That was the whole point. As I stated above, this was just a concept for what the Dribbble team could down the road. I have no intentions of stealing the branding, concept, or anything.
@Ismael, It would have to be pretty drastically different for me to feel comfortable with going with it. I want nothing to do with copying another site's design or model.
@Everyone, it was just a random idea! I know it's nearly the same looking as Dribbble. It's just like the Envato Marketplaces. They're basically all the same sites, but they're in a network together and so they all have the same exact theme, just with slightly different branding. This was a suggestion for what the Dribbble team could do after they were happy with where Dribbble was at. Not something I planned on doing.
It's not perfect, and if they actually did something like this it would obviously need to be thought out more. I'm just glad I was able to clear up the confusion on my intentions/purpose in posting these two shots.
This is interesting because I want to create something like this related to photography but I have a lot of tangents it would go on and be different from dribbble. I actually have no idea how to take my concept to a functioning back end because I don't know coding / php.
Has there been any more discussion on this idea with dribbble?
I think the dribbble team itself has many more plans for this site before they would consider branching out into anything else. They're web designer's at heart and so that's really where the direction of this site has gone.

The concept sounds really nice, but I think you shouldn't copy dribbble TOO much... but that's just me. :)

I think that's a great idea! Sometime you start a piece and, like in design, you need some poking in the right direction.

Here is a shot of what an inner "riff" page would look like.

Good idea though the design is almost identical. I'd connect with Dribbble owners to make sure your branding does not conflict with theirs.

If I were you I would create this site with your own name and own design so that you could make all the money :-)
