These are tough without knowing the full brief...couple of thoughts:
1. Were they looking for more of the sketch/clip arty look? That's what this reminds me of.
2. Type is nice - I might move "audiology" up a bit more so it connects more with "Ear Center". Seems a bit disconnected now.
At first glance, it looks like a hand. Also i would try using a couple of different brush strokes for the soundwaves. I will look over it more tomorrow.

Client wanted hand/ear combo. Wanted it to look "caring."

@Jason - Yeah not set on the type yet... still working on that - I do like hoefler as the final though. We'll see how that plays out.
As far as the icon goes. Find me an "real" ear logo that doesn't look similar to clip art and I may give you a prize :)

I would love this without the sketch look. A more smooth and solid look would seem more ‘caring’ to me. This looks a bit too rough.
Here is a random thought: how about using a non-skin color?

@Sean - haha, touche my friend. I like the mark, it sort of has a throwback style.

Yeah I would vary the Brush strokes on each finger, but other than that it looks great to me.
