Icons within an icon? ICONCEPTION!
I am not perfectly sure if the icon will retain those details at smaller sizes.

I don't think the icons-inside-icons will be a huge problem, but it might help if you simplify each one. For example, instead of using the film strip (which will be very difficult to see at a small size) use the "play" icon by itself. Same goes for the music and ebook icons.
OS X's Dashboard icon might give you some ideas of what I mean by simplification.
