Looks like a good start. It has the lighting of a circular shield, but the properties do not match. A flat surface will never have radial lighting reflections like that.
A couple tips to give your icon more organic properties:
- Don't use blend modes on your detail highlights. Try to paint the colors that you want.
- Change up the thickness of radial highlights. Some narrow and focused, some broad and feathered and soft.
- If the center is brighter than the outer edges, that will help make it feel more spherical.
