Nice icon but the background is taking away from the detail. I'd love to see u repost with a much darker, perhaps blue bg.

Thanks for the feedback @Alex. I wanted to keep a map theme for the shot - but I updated the background to a dark blue here to hopefully show more detail: http://www.cl.ly/EQy9

Understandable. U consider maybe making the map layer darker while maintaining the integrity of the existing colors? Perhaps duplicating the background and setting the blending mode to multiply one or more times?
The alternate version brings out the detail. Overall this is a nice icon. Good work man.
