Just an idea from your friendly neighborhood Rogie. For some reason, I hate the turned metal sliders/buttons/icons. Top is Apple's — bottom is mine. Vote!

Bottom, but maybe lighter.
You obviously crank yours up more than Apple's
Bottom, boo ya!
Yeah, this is nice. Bottom, maybe glossy black?
@Kevin Andersson try it out!
i like the direction though at first it seems disabled sort of. maybe if more of the ui elements had that same treatment it wouldnt?
Allright, let me give it a shot :)
I like it, but yeah, needs to be lighter man :)
Bottom, but lighter ~ like the one on top, but without the gradient.
I downloaded the png. Opened Fireworks. That was the end. :) #Photoshop4EVA!

Adding to your idea the background color fading more as it slide. Also added the blue dot for my own style. What do you think?

added a little more character...
Not to be the oddball, but I like Apple's button. It feels more connected to the interface as if it has a very distinct purpose. Maybe if yours offered more contrast and simplicity?
I am with @Kris Black black on this one.

Maybe like this
better, perhaps a lighter gray than the bar
@Louie Mantia you know we love your work buddy – this is just an experiment for the fun of it ♥

Bottom but white, I like the top's white contrast better. Your shape is better. More so like @Paul Ungureanu rebounded
interesting idea :)
