Boonville in Anderson Valley, CA hosts an awesome beer festival annually. I have been attending for 10 years. Our friends gather from all over for a beer fest reunion and stay on the coast for the weekend
The harbor is the highlight of Duluth as well as seeing the beauty of Lake Superior. I visited Duluth right before I backpacked on an island for 6 days.
This is a shot from a recent back-road trip through New Mexico, my favorite place on the planet. My friend and I drove 8 straight hours from Tucson, AZ, and took the extra 1.5 hour round trip drive up to the Santa Fe Ski mountain at the end of a snowstorm, during a sunset. Amazing views.
They've always been a place that I can retract to when the hectic-ness of the city has worn me down. I love everything about it there – the mountain roads, the colors, the trees, the snow, the old west feel and the crisp cool air. Whether I've gone by myself, with my wife or with the guys – I've always left with a soul that is fully alive.
My heart will always belong to Tohoku (Northern Japan) because so many of the places I loved are gone. This is a photo I took in 2003, modified in Photoshop. I lived in the Fukushima Prefecture (first in the town now known as part of Minamisoma and then in Tomioka where the nuclear power plant was damaged in the earthquake) from 2002-2004, and I will never forget my dear, dear friends there.
This rice field was a few minutes from my home stay family's house in Kashima-machi (now Minamisoma), on the way to the beach. I'm pretty sure it's not there anymore, but nowhere else compares to Japan for me.

My hometown. Dedicated to my serious love affair with Chicago style hot-dogs since I was a kid, and pretty much everything else.
