As mentioned in comments on the precursor to this rebound, I abandoned the transparency idea and went with an opaque frosted look. I can't say that it accurately represents any specific real-world material, but it doesn't entirely matter.
In this shot, you see the lower right portion of the homepage, which will have a main container and three smaller containers split out below it.
Also, the brushed metal background has been updated to something more accurate and turned vertical.

Nice! The brushed metal is very subtle, looks awesome! The noise in the frosted glass looks like it worked out too!
The only thing I'd suggest is to maybe lighten the shadows under the glass just a touch - glass (even opaque glass) tends to cast very soft shadows.
