@John Thanks. Yep, nothing but Ps and a handful of images from Google as reference. The SNES and Genesis were the most time consuming (the G's gradients and shadows were most difficult) to get them looking right, especially on the device. The NES I finished quite quickly, but it is my favorite. Something about its design (just in general, not on the icon per se) I really love. Very Bauhaus.
@Matthew D. Kenyon Let's be real here. The SEGA Master System (which I owned as a kid because my idiot brother told my mom it was better than the NES) wasn't a hit. It was also ugly as sin!
SEGA's Saturn didn't fair much better in North American either.
You shouldn't look at these like it's a fight against Nintendo and SEGA, but as a fight between old consoles/games and modern ones. Everything up there is on the same team :)
@Matthew D. Kenyon I liked them both. I thought SEGA made some good titles and started to turn things around with the Genesis... but through a long series of bad decision, ran their franchise into the ground. Then SNES pulled Nintendo even further away (to be later replaced by the reprehensible Sony Corp.)
I couldn't leave well enough alone. Sorry for the console spam, but I had to revisit this. Not only did I forget the "HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS" slogan on the rim, but I wanted to retouch some areas. Added a little more detail too (the controller slots and headphone jack on the bevel), so it's about as close as I'm going to get to the real thing.
I really wish I never parted with the unit when I was a kid. Maybe I should hit some garage sales...

The work is obviously lovely.
BUT. 2 Nintendo consoles VS 1 Sega - So, so unfair.

I'm playing. Actually a die-hard Nintendo fan...
Back to the icons - love the perspective on the NES.

Yeah. I do like REZ and some other modern Sega titles.
Covered both inspirations on our game site, but Nintendo just has that special place :)

Gorgeous stuff...will you add the pins (whatever the shit you blow on and use Windex+Q-tip on is called) onto the bevel of the NES/SNES cartridges?

@Andrey Grabarchuk I did but they ate so much into the bevel on the iPhone that they looked terrible. So I had to pull them out.
