   I think they are overdone a smidge, but also makes me want some of the same on that search field. Something subtle but not flat.

   I think the text input box is quite thin in comparison to the sumbit button.

   Nice job Chris, I love the colour choices here. I would be inclined to lose the bounding box for search altogether, I don't think it's a necessary addition. If the text input had more padding and was less rounded then it will help align it with the text above (which I'm assuming is the current role of the shadowy box?).

   Just my take on it, though it may make more sense when I see the full layout. Looks lovely and readable especially in low light situations.

5. Pro Cesar Figueroa

   Building on top of the critique from @Bassam Ismail and @Jordan Moore, you could probably get rid of the submit button altogether and focus simply on the text input field.

   Additionally, I feel the article titles should be segregated from the “Archives” link, the leading amongst those titles could use some work and perhaps try going solid rather than semi-translucent on the sidebar (sidebar?) background.

   Lovely piece you have going on here, by the way.
