I just added this fancy schmancy hidden menu to the Dialoggs app.
The hidden nav items say: "Participating", "Following", and "Mine". If you click on that area, the white colored sidebar moves to the right and reveals the hidden nav... otherwise it remains "collapsed" and out of the way :)
EDIT: The attached shot shows what it looks like when the nav is expanded :)
@Daryl Ginn I agree.. the purple badges u see in this shot are not the ones on the REAL interface.. this is a shot from photoshop.. the real ones look fab :)
@Rogie i agree totally.. but i don't wanna spend the time to design icons for the text descriptions.. since its not just these 3.. in other sections of the app there are 4-5 nav items. I'd end up doing a bunch of custom icons.. which is something i might do down the road.. but no time now :(
I like doing icons better anyways.. cuz it means instant multi-language support ;)
Maybe have a subtle arrow in that hidden sidebar to show the user the intended result of interacting with it? At first glance, as a user, I wouldnt want to click on the sidebar as I may think it would jump me into one of those settings/links that I can't fully read and may do something I don't want.
So can't wait to use this. I have way too many good conversations on Twitter that'd I love for all of them to be organized. Truly curious what other functionality/integration is in the midst of this app. Nice work Drew!
And Drew you love icons and plus you've made them 'fairly easy' to integrate. :)

Top bar is perfect.
Purple bubbles aren't working for me, nor is the outer glow on the text.
I would have changed the purple bubble and that section underneath the avatar to look like this: http://cl.ly/0t2a3v0o3G2G3M1p1c2n
Also, the top of the avatars bothers me with that glow and that there's no border definition.
Other than that, I like it. Props.

@Drew looks bomb, but I think hidden navigations work REALLY well with icons :)

It looks very cool generally, but i think you could work with purple bubbles and this dropdown photo. Looking forward to see the rest!

Too much variation. Ends up looking way too crowded with different elements.
