With the most respect possible, I'm actually not keen.
The texture is lovely but the typography, by that I mean helvetica, feels kinda played out.
@Chris Rowe@Si Jobling - I disagree. I think you're finding it readable because you know it says Sam Brown from the outset. The "R" in Brown is nigh on invisible if you're not looking for it.
I'm really liking the leather texture Sam - I used a similar look on some album art I done recently.
I think the header text is perfectly readable although that's probably because I know your name & I know what it should read. When you read Dan's comment regarding the 'R' being lost, it does actually ring true. It does appear completely obscured by the B & O but it somehow works.
If you were to quickly glance at the logo, it does read Sam Bown, but after a split second you do notice the R.
Additionally, I love how your site is somewhat monochrome with perfectly placed splashes of colour and this is no exception.
Looking good Sam. Crying out to be animated-in in a CSS3 stylie :)
I see no issue with the font. Individual boredom isn't relevant critique imo. Helvetica is a good choice as it is a design classic, and also allows the overlap to be legible. Finding the "r" took me 0.004ms. But then again, all the words in the above comments are impossible to read unless I'm looking at them :P
My only suggestion would be addressing the "W" and "N" characters to lose that tiny gap, as everything else tessellates and fits snug.

Love that subtle leather look Sam.
Amazingly that logo is still very readable too.
Nice!

3 column layout?
I also think it would be pretty cool to take your article colour tagging a stage further and change the colour of your name too depending on each tag.

I agree with Chris - I'm surprised your name is still legible in that arrangement.
Looks nice mate. More Helveti-goodness.

I tried a similar logo with my own name, it was horrible, probably because my surname is too damn long.

Great job, Sam! Awesome as always.
@Dan - When I first scanned the thumbnail I could read it perfectly fine without knowing it was Sam's name. I think reads just fine.

respect @Dan for the critique - there's often a surfeit of sycophancy on dribbble.
I, too, am bored of helvetica, but it just shouts "DESIGNER", so it's fit for purpose here :D
I got my iphone4 today, but not the micro-sim, so all I can do is stroke it and weep gently.

I love the layout, the texture, everything! That is, I love everything but the header type.
The rest of the shot screams "Pro!", but the header looks... amateur.
I mean no disrespect to you, Sam, because I respect your work and your writing immensely. I want you to live up to your potential with this design.
Regardless, express yourself how you want. Our words shouldn't get in the way of your art.

I actually agree with @Evan Walsh on this shot - The header isn't great. The rest is great and the texture is great.

Cool idea. Though I too agree with Dan on this.

I like the idea with the text, but I think it needs tweaking abit, the 's' and the 'a' in Sam do not look right, doesn't flow like the rest of it!
I know you've aligned it with the top of the s and the a but the bottom end where they meet again looks messy!
