He is right. regular sentence case makes more sense on the iPad. I don't know of any app that uses all caps for the title. The icon looks great as it is.
I prefer Txt to Textmachine, too.
I prefer Textmachine as the label, it amplifies the icon's machine/cog metaphor. For me the wittiness of the icon has no context with TXT as the label.
It’s a beautiful logo, but using “Txt” as the icon’s label makes the logo’s reading far too obvious. It’d remove that initial in-joke discovery delight for me…
If in people's minds while reading it sounded like, "T-EX-T" then I would say totally this one. Because T-EX-T would be pretty open ended. But like people in here, text sounds like text messaging. Textmachine wins!
Just made the button a bit more pushy, with a little bit more glow to it. Not the right type treatment (pixeled out by hand), but you get the point. Little bit more crisp if anything.
In all honesty, it looks like an icon for a game. Like Nintendo controllers from way back in the day. I know it says 'txt' but that was not obvious and I do agree that 'txt' has SMS connotations that are pretty heavy and not quite in line with this product.

Think I'd prefer Textmachine, or Txt (not uppercase), this here looks too geeky and generic for me.

I agree with Mariusz. "TXT" feels very… early-00's-warez-group-ish. How would TXT, Txt or txt be pronounced out loud anyway? "Text" or "tee-ex-tee?"

TXT makes me think of SMS, which has all sorts of negative connotations for spelling, etc. Might be a cultural (UK) thing though.

TxT might have negative connections to cHiLdR3N oF tHe InTeRwEbS ErA. Also, it looks a bit like an emoticon to me. ;)

How about spelling out text in the logo and writing machine in the label? ... Although not sure if that's allowed

Txt is too "phone" for me -- less focused writing, more quick casual writing. I vote for Writespace.
