I thought this might be not worth it vectorizing but maybe worth posting... I know the middlefinger is oddly placed, I could've even build a k with them.
it kinda reminds me of a swiss army knife, doesn't it?
now I'm onto Logo Expirement #4, which gonna be a bit more serious approach!
i tried doing it with my fingers. hahaha! but if you ask me, experiment # 1 is a good lookin mark. the bold one looks a lot more solid but the one that's not looks more classy :)
I like how fun this feels. It looks like the ASL letter F (with the finger nails on the wrong side and the fingers out of order, of course.) :)
To avoid the "middle finger" look (and make the fingers more naturally posed), I'd drop that finger back one layer to be behind the upper left one. Then it'd be (front to back): thumb and forefinger > middle (splayed left) > ring (pointing up) > pinkie (splayed right).
… though, then, that would leave you with an ASL "f" and not a "d" or "k". Oh, well. :P
thanks @Kurt Madsen, you put a lot of thought into this, but as you've probably seen I decided to go with the one I have on my avatar, expirement #5, which was for me, and lots of people with positive feedback, the most meaningful and personal approach! :)
but I apreciate this! for good reason I leaved it as a "fun" experiment and didn't developed it further.
Oh, no problem. I saw that you'd already decided on another one, but because I already had this one in my head, I wrote up the comment and posted it anyway.
BTW, I think the mark you landed on fits well. It's dynamic, has depth, and expresses both initials very well at multiple sizes. Plus, if you turn it on its side it looks like an lucha libre mask. ;)
@Kurt Madsen I find it awesome and I'm surprised that so many see that, at first I just saw a guy with glasses and a stache, but later also a wrestler like you said... someone saw a fish, someone saw a code brace and so on.... best thing is, when I created this, I only thought about combining D + K in a clever way, the rest came along on it's own. :)
so this mark fits that good because many people can imagine something from it, and I have a good imagination, so I think that fits well.
Very cool! And good choice. I also really like the top left one in the second image down. Very slick. Will be starting work on a new logo for myself pretty shortly so nice to be inspired :)
@Trent thanks, I liked that one too, but it was just not enough clever enough for my taste, I'm kind of a perfectionist!
good luck with your logo, keep in mind that it's really hard when not the hardest thing you ever did! I suggest to you to sketch concepts & ideas of your logo on a daily base (and brainstorm doing something unproductive like being in the train or at home). I also suggest to you to go for a letter-based logo / monogram and use your initials T&M or T&B or all three!
Thanks a lot for the advice @Daniel! I just know it's going to be incredibly difficult, so the task is a little daunting! I was also thinking to work with my initials somehow but for some reason I feel like "T" is tough to work with. That said, you've inspired me to get thinking a little bit more seriously about it :)
My Dribbble experience, which is still quite young, has been been really really influential though.
@Trent try to think not of the T alone, but try to imagine the T in combination with the B.... try to be unique, and create something that no one did before!
for example an idea that just popped in my mind...... place the B on the roof of the T, but no ordinary B, you know you get what I mean, be creative, give it your personality in a subtile way! but still have a professional look, avoid or don't use gradients at all and work in illustrator only..... but I guess you know all that stuff!
and I agree with you, Dribbble was a big influence, learned so much more and got so much more skills and motivation! in fact the day I joined changed me as designer completely!... as foolish as that sounds :D
@Daniel Thank you again! I wouldn't a 'B' as my surname is McBride, so would probably prefer to use an 'M', but still, I get your point and appreciate your encouragement a lot!
I totally know what you mean about being changed as a designer as soon as you joined Dribbble. I feel exactly the same way!

I love the movement the layered fingers create - but I do read a middle finger from it.. Not sure if that was what you were going for haha.

@Grace Marie Bienek haha, no that wasn't my intention, well that's might be not the right one then lol!

Thanks Kenneth, I agree #1 in bold looks the best, I continue with these experiments and post them here anyway! Even they're not that good.

You did well, my friend. It's practically a Rorschach test for new clients.
I can also see a cat, an owl, and the Github mascot in there too. Who knows what all that says about my psyche. :)
