In the works since this summer. Trying to bridge the gap between beautifully wonky mid-century Futura clones and hand painted type. If that makes sense.

Would love to hear input. And name suggestions.

I would call it Mainstreet. I think it fits the sign painted nature of it. Its also a Bob Seger song. So...there is that.

I like it. Will you have the regular version as well (as opposed to italics)?

Henley. You should also include some swashes/alts like Canyonaro!

Name notions: Depot. Sidecar. Lord Grantham's in Pickle. Tilty-Thick-Lil-Serif, Elixir.

My only fret is how the capital Q would work with a u, but I'll say it is a minor reservation that warrants further reflection.

The lower case s looks a little small and I'm not really feeling the capital Q either. Everything else is looking great!

Skidmark. Really like it and I second the alternates idea. Could solve the potential Q problem. The personality is great.

This reminds me of a modern take on a Dr. Seuss typeface. Love it.

    Love the Q!

I really like the style of the Q. Maybe the Q-u issue could be solved if the tail of the Q descended under the 'u' some how. Does that make sense?

@Rob Yeah, the QU/Qu issue is pretty common - most typefaces use a ligature or kerning pair to solve it. See Trajan for example - the U is slightly shortened to make room for the Q.

Totally makes sense. Can't wait to buy it!

The W looks like an M flipped. It's usually wider than the M. Maybe take a little off the horizontal stroke in the G. It's starting to close up the bowl. The J could use a little more of an upturn on the entry stroke. Looking flat. I wish there was a larger attachment. It's tough to make out the serif shapes and some of the weight distribution. On the M, it appears that the weights are wrong. The heavier strokes should be strokes 2 and 4. It looks like it is 1 and 4 currently. The leg on the L is short. The bar on the T is short. Ditto Chris's comments on the Q. Ascenders on b and h look short. Descenders on p and q look short compared to j. Crossbar on t is short. m should not be a wider character than w. I realize that some of these may be intentional decisions and not oversights :) Is there a roman (non-italic) version in the works? Looking good overall.

If this is the type you were working on during your summer road trip, why not call it Open Highway?

Whatever you're calling it I'll buy a set. My vote's for "Orassac" as a name.

Like the concept and what you're making, and ditto prev. comments, a larger image would be easier to make notes on.

Felix had some good comments, second the W note about diversifying it from an upside-down M. I'd also take a second look at some of your curves, U J f j y s letters look a bit squished or flattened or skewed where they transition -- those italic s's are always super hard to do. Isolate 'em and look at how they sit in some existing typefaces.

Good luck with perfecting the thing, am sure it'll be wicked awesome once you're done!
