Now, I just have to put everything together. Any ideas?

Love the paper, but not sure it needs the cutouts, unless you were going to add some binder rings. Or, if you made them not so neat and straight, give it more of a torn look. I dig the pencil icon.
Kyle, I kinda thought I'd NOT do the binder rings, for change, but dig your torn look idea. Thanks.
I agree about the torn look. Spiral bound paper just has clean holes until it is torn from the binding. Good start. I really like the softness of the paper itself.
I like it how it is... but that's because I'm obsessed with minimalism and clean lines. Ha ha.
Steve - totally get what you're saying, but Renee, I think I'm kinda with you... :) Will have to work a bit more on it.
I love it. I would leave the cuts just as they are now. It's an icon, it doesn't need to be that realistic, and this way it is really neat and communicates what it needs to.
Axel, that was by thinking as well.
I concur on the torn paper look.
One thing that took me a minute to read properly was the top of the pencil. At first it looks like a gray eraser with a thick black stroke, and a metal holster edge that's angled weird (instead of being straight across), then I realized it's an artist's pencil with the black shiny top.
I think that making the highlight a) brighter and b) thinner would make it read more as a highlight and not a stubby eraser. :)
I love love love the gradation of blue on the pencil body. The whole thing is super cute.
Thanks for the great critique Ryan. Will work on the highlight a bit more.
