The best doodles really do happen during phone calls. I love this! Those fat curls look just excellent. Love how you got the new pencil in the shot too ;)
Daniel - besides graffiti I used to do this kind of pencil lettering a lot when I was a kid. I just never get to this kind of shit anymore. But for some reason or another it always comes naturally at moments that I least expected.
A designer I used to work with a few jobs back would doodle while he was on the phone, except he didn't really look at what he was doing. When he got off the phone, there would be some work of art in front of him, and he had no memory of drawing it.
According to some studies doodling during a meeting or phone call actually helps you to remember stuff. They say it triggers your brain to be just enough active that you probably don't pay attention at all what you are drawing but at the same time you are not carried away with deep thoughts and day dreaming :)
This is great. If you think about it, you may not have been paying attention the conversation, but you weren't really controlling your brain either, it was just free flowing. (happens to me alot too)

A doodle I made during a somewhat long phone converstation. To be honest I don't remember what the guy was talking about ;)
Guess it reads "Joy" from bottom to top ;)
I always prefer written project briefs instead of a phone calls. This way I can always refer back to it as often as needed.
