I love Minecraft! Thats a fact but i always wondering 2 Things:
Fist: Why is Mojang doing a Iphone/Andriod version of Minecraft just by doing the same game again with a realy bad handling and controling even everybody knows that a first person view isnt the right thing for the Touchscreen Concept
and Second: why is nobody doing a Minecraftish-Browsergame? A Mix of second life and Minecraft just right inside your browser? I know - minecraft can run in your browser aswell because its "just" javascript but if you add the "zynga-point-of-vew" to the game you would have a complete new concept.
just think about it ;) Would be awesome if this will someday come to life
I think it is inevitable for there to be many who try this, and I'm sure there will be success. Notch has popularized a new genre. I love your isometric design work above, but I think that a super literal clone of Minecraft is probably not what we'll see become successful. Instead I think somebody will take the world modifying and crafting mechanics and make something new. I'd even hazard to guess that we'll see higher voxel resolutions soon or even Minecraft in a polygon world.
so, its been a long time since i start to make something out of the "Isocraft" Idea and here is what ive got. Its called Cube - The Game. I started to steal some Code from Cubespace ;) and do something with my verry bad javascript skills and its not even 1% near enough to this image but its just a beginning :)
also i did this preview page: http://pixelpizza.de/cube/ for some promotion and project updates. also you can find a preview of what ive done so far with this game idea. and maybe i can find a coder who can help me out :)
Couldn't agree more @Kevin S. I think that what you have going here is brilliant. For the mobile platform, it seems like you would want to take the Minecraft concept and alter/rethink it totally for a mobile environment.
Your stuff is fantastic. Why is this not a game! hehe!
