    Thanks a lot for the all great responses! Your comments helped me enormously. I agree there was something not quite right about the shadow and the font. I think this works a lot better! I'm currently working on the font. Any ideas for a typeface that would work with this symbol?

    While I missed the filled version, I think this definitely solves the issues I mentioned before. Would you consider a thicker stroke for the form? Regardless, I think this is heading in the right direction.

    As for type, what about Pill Gothic? Apex New? Or Calibre? Those are just off the top of my head. But I think a medium-to-heavy weight sans-serif would do the trick.
