I think this is great, and a total improvement from their latest logo, but it just doesn't give me that "NBA" feel. I know it sounds like I'm their marketing person and would say stuff like it doesn't 'pop' enough. But it really doesn't pop enough in my opinion.
What do I mean? For a sports team logo, I would expect less of that flat minimal feel, and more of the fun feel. And your logo in my opinion is great, but not for a sports team. For example I think Pacers logo succeeds on that, so as Nets logo. I know you're just playing, but I thought it would be appropriate to give constructive feedback. And this is purely my opinion, so it's not like what I say is right, it probably is wrong in so many ways haha :)
Anyway, as always I love the style (just not for this purpose).
Yeah dude. Send it to them. The Copperplate mess is atrocious, I feel bad for Monta Ellis and David Lee having to wear the current logo. Must feel like a medallion hanging from a necklace.
@Kerem - Thanks for your thoughtful analysis. I'd agree with you to some extent, this could probably be more dynamic or energetic. It was just an idea that popped into my head while watching the Warriors so I went for it. If I was really working on a project like this I think the end result would be more appropriate....BUT, I do have to say that I think the current NBA "feel" is pretty terrible. All the bevels, shadows, strokes, etc are getting out of hand. I'd still prefer something simple and iconic to the mess of stuff thats out there now. The Pacers logo I think is decent, and I like that the Jazz is using one of their classic logos, but otherwise it's pretty heinous.

This is great! Looks like "warriors" isnt quite spaced evenly within the two circles though. Hangin' a little low.

Caleb Bennett sent me a cool article today that he wrote recently that touches on the subject - http://6thfloor.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/01/13/making-that-old-school-sports-logo-new/
Anyway, appreciate the feedback, I'll keep it in my back pocket in case I get to work on this for real!

So great. Really nice move including the SF / 62 as a point of legacy.
I agree that it would be good to see a few more NBA teams move in this direction — using cleaner, bolder lines and hinting more at heritage.
Someone send this to Peter Guber stat!
