First impression was that it was some sort of bug/roach thing with a crossed out circle. Didn't realize it wasn't that until seeing the original sketches.
The "Sketching" was a little more clear. I got the "wheat"/gluten free aspect, simple.
Perhaps just break up the "No" circle a bit more to better show the grain? Like this color choice, but wonder if this should be a two-color mark (brown and orange)?
I would agree that it looks like a bug (a beetle of some sort). I think if the wheat had a more graphic style, or was a longer strand extending out of the circle, it might look less bug-like.
(It's always cool seeing early versions of works in progress.)
it's going to sit as is for now. like i said, i'm not entirely happy with it… though i think it's much clearer in the context of the app than here as it stands by itself.
