Nice, I've been working on an Inception thingy too, saw it on Sat night with the missus, (had to explain the entire film to her afterwards, bless) , I'm not sure about the ending though, felt like an anti-climax?
I read about an interview with Nolan where he explained that it's a movie about making movies. Think about it - each "role" in the movie is a "role" in creating/experiencing movies.
@Rogie, If he was dreaming, why did he wake up on the plane, go through customs, saw his kids faces... all things he couldn't do in his dreams. :)
Not saying I'm right, but would love to hear any other theories that would prove otherwise (since you couldn't tell if the totum was going to fall or not)
@Sean Unless he is in a dream and in that dream he can se his kids faces. In the second level he cannot. I think the totem spins forever. I think that his wife was right the whole time and has been bringing people into his shared dreams to try to get him out. Why did Saito use exactly the same phrase "take a leap of faith"? Also, in the end, why are the kids wearing the EXACT SAME clothing in the exact same grass scene. It's a dream still.
@Rogie
Yeah, I mean the credits at the end. Don't feel like a fool though. The credits could be a leap of faith. :P
Anyone else find it interesting there was no title/opening credits sequence? I remember Batman Begins having one, but not The Prestige, or The Dark Knight.
It's kinda a cool concept to try to apply to web design, if you even can. Throwing users right into real/meaningful content with no buffer.
Idea:
Everyone makes an identity for one of the character types IE, The Architect, The Extractor, The Mark, The Shade, The Point Man, The Tourist and The Forger. I'm at work otherwise I would get on this and officially propose it via a shot.
What about the world that they (cobb and his wife) created.. why were there no projections in those dreams? When his wife died, don't you think if it was his dream, than the projections would have finally caught up with him and tried to kill him?
On another note, is the plane still the first dream that he (cobb) thinks is reality? If so, how is Robert Fisher (son of the empire's maurice fisher) in his dream?
I think Saito used those words to remind himself and leonardo that they were still dreaming.
I also think the kids were wearing the same clothes because their mommy wasn't there to change them :) haha. Not sure about that one.
Sean, all good points, but remember, your projections don't kill you. They are like white blood cells. They never kill you, but foreign elements to your dreams.
One thing to be noticed - When not dreaming, Cobb is not wearing his wedding ring, nor is he wearing it when on the plane, re-meeting his children, passing through Customs, etc. In the dreams, and limbo, he is wearing his wedding ring.
As for the kids, I think it's for more of recognition's sake, if anything, as to why they remain in the same clothing.
I love this! Although I think Dom's piece should be spinning. ;)
@Rogie: I totally agree. I want to go see it again to verify, but I swear Dom told Juno that he and his wife had gone two dreams deep. After the train, they still had one more dream to get out of, right?
@Anthony @David: I saw it in NYC, and when I left the theatre, walked right into melting tar on the street. My feet were kind of sticking to the ground, and the whole city was around me, and this woman being me started HUMMING, and all I could think was OMG IT'S THE MUSIC I'M IN A DREAM AND IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP! :-P

I'm with Simon, the ending definitely had an anti-climax feel, but I think thats only because everything leading too it was so awesome. :)
Great work though, inspired me to start my own… Rebound inbound.

Awesome work Trent.
@Simon - I climaxed... it was an awesome movie after all. Blew my mind then put it back together again. Inception 2 for anyone...

Thanks guys... the entire theatre started laughing at those last few seconds- myself included. (Careful not to add any spoilers)

I really want to start a big conversation somewhere about the ending.

Anthony, he was still in a dream.

Rogie: Yes yes yes, but. I spent a good 2 hours speculating what would end up happening and how the 2nd movie could turn out.
I love movies like this that make me think.

Anthony, I think I spent near two hours doing the same thing! I loved it!

Sean, good point on him seeing his kid's faces. I'll have to give it more thought.
Trent, you should add "SPOILERS!" to the end of the title :D

Rebound
Inception
July 26, 2010
I just saw Inception for my second time this weekend. I was a little obsessed with the simplicity of Cobb's sketch explaining Inception.

@Trent
That is some awesome texture you got going on.
@Rogie
The credits actually kinda solve the puzzle.
There are credits for younger kids, and older kids.
If the end is another dream layer, the kids would be older than Cobb when he gets there due to time compounding.
about 1 month ago
@Andy Stone: that's great!
@Jayden Anderson: The texture is actually where I'm flip-flopping in regards to amount. I may post the A/B if I can't get off the fence:)

Jayden, the credits, meaning the credits of the movie at the end? If so, like a fool, I left right at the end. :S
Also, interesting, I never thought about that. I shall ponder thy words.

Gahh!! There's soo much to think about. Also, I now have to go see it for the third time to watch the credits thanks to Jayden.

He was still in a dream but finally believed it was real. The whole movie was an elaborate way for him to actually believe that idea. Inception.

Going to see it the 2nd time in 3 days today.. yes, I do love the movie but it's definitely not better than Memento for me..
What do you guys think?
about 1 month ago
@Milos: I loved Memento, although I also loved Guy Pearce with a tattooed chest and no shirt on for most of the movie. I am clearly biased.

Ah, I can finally read his thread and understand the artwork. :-)
And I love that @Krystyn called Ellen Page's character Juno (nope, I don't remember her character name from this movie either)
