i wanted to attempt to create a realistic surfboard out of photoshop from scratch. this is what i came up with. inspired by several boards in one. complete with my sponsor logos :D since i'm a pro surfer (web).

Can't go wrong with a quad fin fish!

If you were to smooth out the aliased lines around the edges it would look pretty legit.

This is killer. I totally thought you got a board from moonlight or something when I saw this on Instagram. You should have it built (or build it yourself)!

Nice! Dims remind me of a Tomo and the outline reminds me of a Hess. I bet it would be a fun board.

Looks pretty awesome, play with some reflections and shadows on the surface of the board and it'll look photo real.

hey guys - i could use advice on two things:

    - how do i get rid of the alias happening...what are some tricks?
    - how can i make it more realistic?

If it's in photoshop try building a mask and then take the selection > refine mask > tune (1px feather works pretty well if its screen res). That could soften up the edges a bit and limit the aliasing? #alsonotanillustrator

Ok. Now you're just showing off. :)

And good tip @firsten. I'll have to try that myself.

looks solid, and a fun shape for sure. (Had something similar, but a funky bat-tail.) I'd throw in an inner glow or inner shadow depending on where you want the lighting to come from– this to help round the edges a little and give it some volume. Also a cast shadow on the ground would be a nice touch too.

C'mon man... where is the Dribbble sticker? :)

But seriously, board and background are cool but Quiksilver and Nike stickers are too sharp and saturated in my opinion. Maybe you can try to make some of the stickers to look like they were printed on transparent vinyl or make them more "used".

I'm so jealous that you can surf everyday. This is one of my dreams :)

    Fantastic.

I agree with Tom, the attached logos and stickers are a little bit too sharp and are the only distractions from the realism. You could add some roughed up texture to the stickers, add a bit of casted shadow off the board and this will only look better :)

The fiberglass could use some reflection to make it more realistic. Show some rail.

Really great work, love the shape. If you establish a light source you can then play with some screen and multiply light patches and an overlay and subtle dark tones. Can't wait to see the final artwork.

Would love it if a sponsor from the ASP World Tour saw this shot and decided to shape it for you :)
