Well, the light is obviously coming from a 90 degree angle, which is also seen in the other elements. So in that regard the shadow is proper. But I agree that it is unnecessary, adds a weird sense of depth and should be removed. :-)
The problem with the shadow is that it washes into the orange, you need more definition on the bottom of the orange (stroke) to make it look cleaner.
Also, regarding the blue strip; If you look at the left and right edges, theres some choppy work going on there, same with the top dark bar edges, probably something to do with a dropshadow, or outerglow.
I've noticed in a lot of your work you also do what I used to do and that's not align text vertically center, "Friends" specifically is way off the chart.
Small details man.
By the way, I do like it - you're becoming quite a talent.
