I've been working on a logo for my dad. There are a few things I'm still updating (such as the wave in the ampersand. It's almost invisible) But this is the gist of it.
My dad works at the beach on pretty much all the high-end homes, so part of the reason for the wave is to give the sense of place. Originally he wanted a surfer, but I explained how that might give the wrong impression, so without completely going away from that I added a wave to give a subtle beach feel.
I like the wave, but as you stated it needs some work, it is making it look extra fat right in that area. And maybe the "since" and "1975" can be straight, not on the curve? But overall I am liking this!
First off, I love this direction and the color choices.
Maybe the wave could move outside the ampersand keeping the middle clear and placing it on the bottom curve just to the right of it's current position. (on the left of 1975)
I like this Skylar, I'm just not keen on the slight arc. I think the name can be arced, but the rest of the copy should be straight. Or keep "Since" and "1975" straight, and arc "Mirror" the opposite of "Hartman Glass". Good direction thus far.
Seconding what Glenn said about the ampersand - I think the wave can come into play on the bottom right curve - then the ampersand wont be so bulky in the center and you can re-adjust the weight to fit the serif.

What's the significance of the wave on the ampersand? I like where it's headed, just curious.

I'm up to suggestions though :)
