iOS Horizontal Lock Screen

Ever since the iPhone 6 Plus was released and its ability to operate the vast majority of the interface while the handset is rotated in landscape mode, I've been perplexed that Apple hasn't made a landscape version of the lock screen.

I'm playing with a small side project, and I decided to have a play with rendering the elements of the lock screen side-by-side to see if there are any particular reasons that might block this sort of layout.
