This is gorgeous, some of the best type work I've seen in a while. The 'Th' ligature is spot-on and doesn't detract from the overall feel of the design which is perfect. I would love to critique it but I can't find anything constructive :)
Thanks Joe, I appreciate your comments! Specially how the project was done in a short time. First showing on 19, final artwork on 22 December. I'm not fully happy with result, but the magazine waited for my artwork for press run. Perhaps sometime, short time help to focus on the most crucial elements?
Just wanted to add that I completely agree with what Joe said (my earlier 'like' got deleted so thought I'd add a comment here instead). This is fantastic - almost wish The Independent would use this as their main logotype. It has just the right amount of distinctiveness without going over the top. In addition to the 'Th' ligature, the 'g' is also just gorgeous. Even more impressive considering the short timeframe.
Un peux en retard, mais meilleurs voeux pour une très bonne année 2012 chez vous !

Th really the best? eh. Thanks Brandon!
I wanted to create a small "animation" on this quite serious logotype, without to be too much distracting as the competitors do in UK, such The Times: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VbjBiUejPfM/Tdl_pC8AQQI/AAAAAAAAAy0/wISAM49Bq3s/s1600/The%2BSaturday%2BTimes%2BMagazine%2BPress%2BFront%2BCover%2BSLC-SLC_edited-2web.jpg

I'm a little less convinced by whats happens at the bottom of the capital I and n... This microscopic gap is bothering me.

@Boris Forconi The same space appear between i & n. There is not so much to do, spacing is very tight already.

The 'Th' lig and lower case 'g' of Magazine feel great together in the full composition http://www.zecraft.com/lettering/the-independent-magazine. Love it.
