Overview & Thinking:
"Our (CNN) search results are not getting great clicks. We believe this is due to a poor layout and it's not easy to navigate through the results."

It was very clear that the search results page needed some help (Check out attachment). A lot of Google ads pushed the content down the page and probably below the fold. So I thought if we could surface 3 main trending results; then a following sub-section of results to further drive click rates.

I also tried to make it feel more open and less "ad-like". You know what i'm talking about, those really shitty ads that show up at the bottom of pages like this – Yeah, you couldn't really tell them apart. So now they is no mistaking what from CNN and what is a Google Ad, etc.
