A nav I made for an app in the works. Yes Yes, I know. Before I get blasted with Path biter remarks, its an awesome nav and they did indeed share out the code. This works a little different but not much.
If it's a complete ripp off then please voice your opinion so I can consider all things from this great community I am humbled to be a part of.

Eric, man. I love your work. This is just another example of you seriously pwning some pixels.
The one aspect of it I'm not sold on is how much space it demands. It seems like it's covering a lot of valuable real estate on an already-small-device.
Food for thought, if anything. Again, you executed it like a boss (but, you already knew that).
@Brian, boom! Thanks hombre! Yeah all that space will not be a problem once you see this sucker spin like a boss (but you already knew that). I am gonna be in your hood in a couple weeks. Beer + handshake = you are real.
Very nice pixels here. I agree with Brian Benitez and his comment on space.
Apologies, as I know I'm totally throwing a wrench in your thinking here: I don't think it's a rip, but I'd still try to push hard away from the visual look / feel of those Path buttons (circles and the circular formation they make). The buttons could be thumbs or other shapes, maybe they don't even form a half circle when they are finished animating.... grid? triangle? hexagon? Cube flip? Hell, maybe it's just a totally different animation all together. All sorts of shapes to play with :D In my humble opinion, the biggest thing Path did in terms of UI innovation - forcing us all to look beyond the tab bar as an iOS UI crutch.
I actually hate that Path was so innovative. Made me feel boring ;)
Dude, I always appreciate the feedback from you homie! I gotta get a bike and show you how to go downhill really fast LIKE THIS
Hi Eric this is AWESOME, but i agree with Brian here, its taking up to much space for such a small device, i am not much into this iphone development but still i can say a word or 2on it :)
Path: Yes, first thought when I saw it. It's obviously inspired, but just on the right side of rip off, in my opinion. As Ben said, maybe changing the look of the icons a little more will push it further from that line. I don't think you can change the formation without ruining it, though.
Space: I don't see an issue here. It only takes up space once expanded (presumably) and less than a second button bar would. I like the dark circle fill behind the icons, it makes the menu more prominent and visible no matter what background it's on.
Great stuff, maybe a few tweaks but I wouldn't change too much.
I like the way you added the tabbar to the path like menu. I think the left button (the main button) should have a little more space from the edge of the screen tho. Never the less, Great work!
The thing about great UI ideas, whether it's Path or Pull to Refresh etc is that they need to be copied in order to spread and grow. There's no point just having one app with a great UI if nobody sees it...
Long winded way of saying - it looks great and don't worry if it's inspired by something else :)
I really like what you did with the tab/nav bar. A lot of apps have been putting the focus on the center tabicon, but there's less of a thumb stretch with it on the left. Nice icon too.
I'm with the other folks where I would have to see it in action. Animations change everything for sure.
Wow, there are a lot of comments on this thing ;) Hope mine get's read.
I think that you're fine here. It resembles Path, for sure, but they do not "own" that styles of nav. They are just the first ones to implement it. Ideas are nothing new. Somewhere that idea has existed before. Yours looks awesome!
Also, I agree with Brian. I think that there is a lot of real-estate being taken up by the nav, in it's press state. I would also consider removing or utilizing the negative space inside the nav: http://cl.ly/1d2E3J3C0s3C0f1L0B2a
Just a few thoughts from a friend :)
Dude, you're awesome, and you amaze me every time with your incredible design skills.

It's an inventive UI – Path's one. Though, if the animation for your UI was entirely different, then it wouldn't be a complete rip-off.
Plus, I love how you managed to morph in a tab bar next to it :)

I don't know, but the dark bit under the path ui "rail" so to speak, seems to be a waste of space. But apart from that, it's an extremely cool design.
