   @Damián Vila: Probably because of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APNG#Application_support :/
   I remember when the MNG format tried to get some steam way back when, but support was very lacking for that as well.

   @Eric Guess: Yes, lack of Photoshop support. I know it's mostly a Firefox thing (though there's a Chrome extension, too.) But it's way better than good old GIF89.

   @Joey Ellis: I use APNG Anime Maker to make them. :)
