Well, I just thought I should upload the final logo with type lockup. The one on my splash page has a division line. But I think I'm going to go with this. No fuss :-)
The line is superfluous. The goal in design should be to remove all superfluity and drill down to what is important for communication. I don't find the line to help clarify anything with your lockup. In fact the line only acts to separate two similar and related concepts: your mark and your name. The line is not needed and in fact serves to muddle the communication factor. Hence, delete the line.
Thanks, Ryan. At first I did feel the mark needs to be on pedestal somehow, but It made it too separate from the type. I want it to be more "one unit". So on that thought, I think you're right.
