A quick [2.5-3h] practice I did on integrating painting & textures into my workflow to make fine detailing easier. Suggestions & critique are appreciated :)
The bird is based on Ollie, of course.

Looks awesome, why dosent the roof have have perspective when the stick have it?
I love this icon, especially the texture of the wood and the lovely bird, but I do agree with Vincent on the perspective. Awesome work :)
Really nice execution Ollin!
Try changing the perspective of the stick and adding a roof.
The perspective looks a bit weird now.

Very good! :)
Totally dig the lightning. Any chance we can get the original texture?
Nice work Ollin! Wish I could get a PNG to swap out my twitter.app icon :)
@Vincent, Seb Pranav: this, this and this ^_^ my perspective is accurate, but I agree it would look nicer from more of an angle, like Pranav said/3rd pic. Thanks for the advice :)
@Gordon: http://artbees.net/6-hi-res-wood-textures/ are what I used, I think.
@Ollin I didn't say the perspective was wrong, just mentioned that it would look better in the perspective I drew in :)
Anyways Great work!
@Ollin: wow, that's really great. I should definitely look into making 3D renders when doing stuff that involves perspectives. What program did you use to make those? :)
@Maxwell: Blender; it's open-source, feature-rich, and a great program. Most designers use c4d or 3ds max, though... but learning 3d is really helpful, no matter what you use :)
