That slight drop shadow on "Cosmopolitan" is stellar. Great textures too. I almost feel like the rounded box looks unfinished based on the detail put into all the other elements.
@Heather: Thanks for the suggestion! Would you mind sending me a link to an image that is something like what you were thinking? I am not quite sure what it should look like.
It's ok. Nothing spectacular. Definitely not 'dribbble first page' material, how did that happen?
It's cases like this which highlight the popularity contest nature of *SOME* dribbblers and dribbblees.
I like many others love Dave's style. Just because it does not conform with the usual over-designed photoshop effect-fest ui work doesn't mean it can't be popular.
you can spot a dave ruiz shot a mile off - which is more than can be said for the majority of post-closed invite dribbble.
@Jay: Thank goodness you aren't the client then. It would have been back to the drawing board :)
I don't think I fall into the "popularity contest" category. I started Dribbble just like everyone else. Some members liked my work and chose to follow me. You have every opportunity to achieve the same results.

Back to templates. Here is one that is geared towards females, or dudes that like pink and purple.

If I was one of those dudes I would totally dig this design.

I like it - I would do a template with the chevron pattern. That is new and hot and ladies like it.

Those are 2 links I could find quickly. It started with the clothing designer Missoni coming to Target and has spread quickly.
