    So one of the crazy things I get to do is put hats, smiles, winks on the work of @Hicksdesign freddie logo for MailChimp. This one was a bit different. . . sweatband is headwear but not a hat. I had two challenges going into this. Does freddie have a hair under his hat? Can I photoshop sweatband material? I think I did ok, but if I had to do it again I would go with something more like this

    @Lucas Smith please, I tried looking around from some I can steal, scan but no luck. Just used my brushes and layers. Only thing I would do different is make highlights in the texture.

    Yeah, I think most of what I did was trial and error too. Kind of messy with duplicated layers masked out and a jumble of layer styles...

    Here is that sweatband. It is more of a soft terry-cloth than @seriousron's loopy version, but I've attached the psd so anyone can take a look at the "technique" - really more of a series of masks, gradients, textures and some filthy brushes...

    @seriousron's version (http://dribbble.com/shots/345894-Sweatband) did a great job of adding curls and feeling truly vintage, kudos!
