Logo mark for a dog charity care and shelter. Still work in progress, I think we hit a creative block. Feedback and comments are greatly appreciated! :)
Thanks for the feedback, Jovan. Exactly my thought as well, but after dozens of sketches of the man's head I still couldn't get it right. Adding a face made the logo looked weird. Adding hair made it too complicated. Heh... I hate creative block.
Have you tried pulling the neck cut-in out and moving it up to a hairline? One thing to try is the same concept but from a different angle. Might help you sure up spacing and position!
Cheers guys. Michael, hmm different angle eh? Might worth a shot. I'm worried about the dog's head shape though. Thx for the input, let me try sketching some more. ;)
I don't know that you really need to change anything at all. The focus of a dog charity are the dogs which is currently the dominate element of your logo for me. The nondescript human tells me that it could be anyone. If you do change it keep it simple. Well done Louis.
Thanks for the input Josh, really appreciate it. This shot was the safest bet we have so far. We did aim for simple but 'smart' design, and I'm quite content with the simplicity of this one. However, I can't shake the feeling that it's still a bit 'unbalanced' visually. I think I still need to explore more geometrical possibilities here. Not that easy for me. ;)
Really nice concept and well executed! could still use some refining IMO. Also dont think it needs a face, but could use a better silhouette contour than just a circle
Thanks guys, appreciate all the feedback. Luke: yes, will try more shapes and different contour for the body. Chris: I did try this one without the head, but it doesn't look much as a 'hug'. I see your point though. :)
Louis, I think this is off to a great start. I agree with @Josh Grzybowski I don't think you need any more detail on the human, since the focus is — and should be — on the dog. I think you're pretty close with the shapes, but a bit of bezier curve refinement could help, especially on the human's right arm. The "shoulder" and upper arm area is as thick as the forearm, when it should actually be thicker and taper more towards the "hand."
Also, just for kicks, have you experimented with how it would look without the dog's eye? Even though the emphasis should be on the dog, I feel like removing the eye might help put the two characters in the same space, so to speak. The dog's head would be slightly more defined than the human's, but they'd both be true silhouettes. Just an idea.

Nice start. Dog face is OK, now it is time to work on man's head.

Does it need the head? You could smooth the neck line out. The message in my eyes is the wrap around hugsys.
