My 2 cents (*ehem* pence) in response to Roan's active nav state conundrum...

I dig the subtle green glow, but the 'User Testimonials' white drop shadow is rather sharp and perhaps too opaque in my opinion.
I've been playing some more and made the active link bold but just in white, as per your initial suggestion. It looks cleaner and more consistent with the sub nav.
The active background is interesting, but I've already got a fading glow (jQuery style) appearing on hover so I'm not quite sure it fits with that.
Thanks for the ideas though. Text shadow on the links is a good idea too! Cheers!
@Sebastiaan Now that I've had a wee while to step back from it, I know what you mean about the white drop shadow.
