Redesign

    For those of you that use reddit, you know it's an incredible site. It's all of the news from all corners of the internet tailored just for you.

    Unfortunately, as the internet is changing, reddit is not. It sits in the stream, an unmoving stone (deep metaphor to get you interested). So, instead of sitting silently, brand new Dribbbler @Luke_Martin and I decided to take action. You can now redesign all or part of the reddit front page as you think it should be. Keep in mind, this isn't just a reskin, it's meant to be a complete UI overhaul.

    What do you win? Well, votes will be cast through liking, so choose carefully. I *hope* to reward the winners of this contest with a couple of months of reddit gold, though funding for this project is low, and by low I mean nonexistent (perhaps a low-budget Kickstarter may help?). That can always change, though, so make sure you keep checking back for changes. And hey, who knows? One of these shots may very well inspire an actual redesign of reddit! :)

    If you have any more questions, or you just want want to stay updated, be sure to check out http://www.reddit.com/r/edesign.

    Good luck!

    Edit 1: The official ending time and date has been decided! We'll ring in the new year with a winner, and so the contest will end with the first minute of the new year, GMT.

    @Russ Straight from their FAQ:

    What is reddit?
    • Reddit is a source for what's new and popular on the web.
    • Users like you provide all of the content and decide, through voting, what's good and what's junk.
    • Links that receive community approval bubble up towards #1, so the front page is constantly in motion and (hopefully) filled with fresh, interesting links.

    I liked @FreeReyes' idea for the upvote/downvote buttons, and I thought I'd try and simplify them just a bit more. Now with 100% less triangles.

    After lots of great feedback i've iterated some changes to the styling of elements. Same layout but i've add back more of the orignal Reddit flavor.
