Currently working on this for a school project: an illustration for the cover of a hypothetical magazine called "Manitoba Life".
Criticism welcome.

Really like this. The cold blue feels a little out of place, though—might be more cohesive if you used something closer to the purples and peaches in the rest of the illustration.

This is clever! I really like the colors in this one. The idea is very nice. Have you considered letting the orange trunks lean outwards instead of pointing in?

Andy: We were provided with a masthead (in Futura I believe) so unfortunately I wasn't able to choose the type used. The assignment was for illustration class though so the type isn't very important.
Torgeir: I did not but it's not a bad idea. I wanted the trees to emulate a deer's antlers as much as possible, maybe they should be a different colour or something though.

Wow I'm completely overwhelmed by all the feedback I received on this being my first shot.
I handed the project in the way you see it here but was not completely happy with it and don't consider it being finished. I do plan to touch it up some and will post a rebound shot once it is in fact (in my opinion) finished.
