Without knowing the design brief, it feels like it may be a tad "friendly" for a boat mfg. The slab serifs feel a little too playful, I'd consider something a bit more classic looking.
Personally if it were me, i'd try to take in a more serious direction. I really like how the lines of the water run through the boat, but maybe the boat needs to feel a bit more square?
Again, that's not to say what you've done here isn't good, or proper, just a thought based on initial reactions of what a logo for someone like that would be like.

Yea we did look at other options which had a more serious/traditional feel to it but they decided they liked this style.
The boat itself was actually designed from a design they have produced!
