Looks great, very crisp and clean. Including little details like the text, barcode, torn edges and printed glyphs is wonderful, and they increase the meaning and recognizability of the icon. Can't wait to see how you tackle harder concepts :)
Yes, Ollin, I am starting off with simple icons and will be progressing to the harder concepts. And obviously the process between will help me a lot in getting what I want from the practice.
And yes, the 2D concept is better as well, but I wanted to use the perspective, so I could shoot 2 birds with 1 stone =P
It looks really appealing. I'd love to tap on this icon if it were on my homescreen. Paul has a good point by the way. Cardboard surface is usually too matt to be shiny. Perhaps you could try blending an actual cardboard texture in? Or even make your own pattern? One aspect that I really like about cardboard textures is subtle lines http://media.smashingmagazine.com/images/100-beautiful-textures/cardboard4.jpg

Did this icon tonight, just for practice. Been thinking of getting into iOS icon designing for quite some time, but I finally started it.
I have several ideas for iOS icons that I will be doing for practice, hoping to do an icon everyday.
Glyphs used on the icons are from my iconset Galaxicons.
I would love to hear what y'all have to say about it and help me get better ;)
