Nice idea!
iOS icons that don't follow the rounded-rect really annoy me.
Other than the non-standard shape, I like the lighter icon—it stands out more to me.

Yeah, we are debating the use of round or rectangular. I'm still on the fence. For some reason, they feel more clickable when I see it on my iPad.
Can you actually even do that? The Peggle icon is round but actually just has a black border, which only works if you have a black background.
you can! There's a web tag to tell the container that it's pre-composed, and some other trick to do it for application icons
I do appreciate the idea, really, but I think I prefer the rounded rectangle, since it will indeed stick out abnormally because of its shape. I say go for consistency!
