Hello guys,
frontend has been redesigned to be "easier" on the eye. My old design was a little bit too much for a utility app. Since we hope this will be used quite often, I wanted to stick to the HIG and got rid of the "fancy" stuff.
Keeping it simple yet usable with the right amount of Informations is what I am aiming for.
I'm not quite sure about the "big" icons, although Apple's HIG suggests this kind of Element for switching tabs, I'm not sure if it still fits the nowadays UI's.
My biggest "fear" is that the app looks outdated and people might want a newer look or more custom elements.
Although this does look quite "standard" infact there are a dozen customizations...
for example the Top Toolbar with the Icon Buttons... Sizes are adjusted to match the drop down size and even spacing & the "selected tab" need to be custom... if we yould stick with the original framework it would look "just" a tiny bit "not-so-good" ... most ppl won't recognize...
This version of the design looks much more like something I will use everyday than the previous version. I believe in this app category that counts much more than a real special custom interface. For example the sidebar-separator dissolving in the toolbar is a great idea and I think most people will notice it. I personally would rather use the word "Mac" than "Macintosh" in the sidebar, because it's used by Apple itself and is more common today.
PS: Not really related to the design but what is about translating reviews?
@Yannik: good to hear! Now we will support translation in v1 and you'll be able to toggle on/ff by using the corresponding button at the bottom toolbar & you will be able to on/off for specific reviews in the "detail view" just next to the "bookmark" symbol…
I just have forgotten to visualze it and I thank you for reminding me :D!
